Frommers Travel Guide
"Located
in a Civil War-era pub with attractive stamped-tin ceilings and
a beautiful back bar with Corinthian columns, this popular local
hangout boasts a comfortable, neighborhood-like feel. Order
a Maine microbrew or a single-malt whisky while you peruse the menu,
which is more creative than you might expect in such pubby surroundings.
Darby's not only serves up bar favorites such as burgers and
fish and chips, but more far-ranging dishes such as Bombay curry,
Asian noodle bowl, or a veggie enchilada. (The macaroni and cheese
has been quite popular, and vegetarians know there are several veggie
entrées each night.) Desserts are homemade, including cheesecake,
pie, and a decidedly sinful Scottish toffee pudding cake. If you
like the artwork on the wall, ask about it. It's likely by
a local artist, and likely for sale."
